Bipul Sarkar holds a PhD in Heterogeneous Catalysts from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research or AcSIR (is an Indian institute of national importance) where he worked on nanocatalysis and materials for fine chemicals at CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun. He had also been attached to the catalysis area, Green R&D centre, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bangalore for his research in catalyst development for residue upgradation technology. He was an NRF (National Research Foundation of Korea) Fellow at the SKKU Advanced Institute of Nano Technology, Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea where his work mainly includes interface engineering of heterogeneous catalysis for green energy. Currently, he is working as a Sr. Scientist at CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum, India. He has published several papers in peer review international journals and presented papers at national and international conferences.

  • Involved in setting up several low and high pressure continuous flow reactors in the present group.

Postdoctoral Fellow (CSIR)

  • Synthesized & characterized different zeolites, metal-supported zeolites and metal oxides for selective oxidation reactions, vapour phase oxidation of propylene, aromatization of propene & propane, and water gas shift.

Doctoral Fellow (CSIR)

  • Synthesized & characterized zeolites, metal-supported hydrotalcite, and different kinds of supported and unsupported metal oxide along with metal nanoclusters via different sonochemical, hydro- and solvothermal methods.

  • The as-prepared catalyst was tested for selective up-gradation of lighter hydrocarbon, bio-oil upgradation, aqueous phase reforming, dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene, selective epoxidation of propene to propylene oxide, dry reforming of methane, auto thermal reforming and hydrogenation of phenolic derivatives of bio-oil.
